Labyrinth
Topic: Movies
Take a story by Jim Henson, add Terry Jones as a writer, David Bowie as the evil goblin king and the beautiful young Jennifer Connelly as the girl looking for her baby brother... Yes. You get a wonderful fantasy film. A legend.
A classic.

Quite expected. You have the madness of the Muppets combined with Monty Python and with the weirdness of David Bowie. You just have to get sucked into the story. And... well - laugh.
I'd tell you what the movie is all about, only that I have a strict policy against it. I believe you should watch a movie you know absolutely nothing about (perhaps only know who the actors are, and get a recommendation from your friends or whoever). There's something that is so much fun in watching a movie you haven't seen the trailer of. No scene is familiar. No scene is expected. If it's a good movie, anyway.

Enjoy.

Dusk. The Album.
Topic: Music
"And have you ever wanted something so badly
That it possessed your body and your soul
Through the night and through the day?
Until you finally get it
And then you realize
That it wasn't what you wanted after all
And then those self same sickly little thoughts
Now go and attach themselves to something ... or somebody, new!
And the whole Goddamn thing starts all over again"

Hi there. Everyone having a good weekend? I am. A very good one in fact.
But I don't want to share my weekend experiences with you.
Instead I want to tell you about the greatest album ever.
After Hunky Dory.
And Sgt. Pepper.
And some other really good albums.

The band's name is The The (that's right), the album name is Dusk.
The The, lead by Matt Johnson, has always specialized in good music and great lyrics. From Soul Mining, that contains the song "This is the day" (the worst song to listen to on your birthday, especially once you passed the delicate age of thirty), to Mind Bomb and Infected ("Armageddon days" and "Heartland" being two of the best political songs ever written), and to this album. Dusk.
It starts gloomy with "True Happiness", continues with gloomier "Love is stronger than death", then gets you hot with "Dogs of lust"... The album throws you from one emotion to the other, never leaving you indifferent.
Get into your room.
Close the door.
Put the CD into the CD player and press play.
Turn off the lights.
And drown in misery.

At least you know you're not alone, and that there's someone out there that can eloquently and powerfully put all these emotions into words.

"You've gotta work out your own salvation"

Until next week,
God.

Sorry
Hi.

I seem to have a week-long hangover (when I created alcohol, I didn't quite check the side effects. Not very good in the chemistry I myself invented, I'm afraid).
Or I could be just sick.
Anyway, I'll be posting again soon.

Ta-ta,
God.

Okay, my first real post.
I'm a bit excited, to tell the truth. It's not that anyone is actually reading (except for Gabriel and Tracy. These two are the only ones that will be spared, come Armageddon), but I still feel exhilarated writing this blog.

So, as a first topic, I follow my angel's comment and write my thoughts about the land of the chosen people. Israel.
Now - I'll leave it to you to wonder whether I put this issue under "beautiful" or "interesting".
Let's start with this whole "the chosen people" story. Okay, so I accidentally mentioned that to someone while not thinking very clearly. Did you guys (Jews, I mean) really think it was a good idea to let the entire world know you were the teacher's pet? You'd obviously get beaten up for that!
And, by the way, by telling the entire world you were the chosen people, I immediately changed my choice. I am now trying not to commit to one nation (but I am willing to say that New Zealanders were my favorites before that awful movie came out).
So, there.

I promised myself not to get into politics. And today is a particularly bad day for getting into that. I'll sum it up by saying that I liked it a lot better when the British were in charge. A lot less messy. Until the resistance started, that is. Ah, those beautiful times. They were building railway tracks, offices, heavenly bureaucracy, and had tea with milk. The Israelis ruined everything, of course: right after receiving their independence ("receiving" is not quite the right word, obviously. Independence is not a thing that comes easily in the Middle East. Nor does democracy), the Israelis celebrated by ruining all remains of the British r?gime. Including the great railway tracks that could have been very useful later on. Including the custom of having tea with milk (a thing you must all try. Especially after a long day track in New Zealand).

Have a good week, and have faith!

God.

I am God
Hello and welcome to my blog.
Like the Cranberries once wrote: "everybody else is doing it, so why can't we?".
I'm joining in. I'm bored enough and sick of people speaking in my name. Here I am.
Not quite in the flesh, but there isn't any, so that's not really an issue here, is it?

I imagine this blog would get trashed - people will claim that I should be hit by lightning since I'm carrying God's name in vane etc. Since I claim I am She, this shouldn't bother me.

Yes.
She.
Sorry, guys.

So what have I got to write about? I hear people saying that there isn't enough beauty, or enough interesting issues in the world. I say that there is beauty (though usually uninteresting), and that there are very interesting issues (they are usually ugly). New Zealand is an exception, of course.
In my blog I intend to write once each week about one topic that I find either interesting or beautiful. It could be a country, a book, a band I like. It could be something that you heard (or missed) in the news.

I shall be posting on Saturday or on Sunday each week. Tradition, you know.
Ta-ta.

PS
I don't do requests.
